#Loyal2LocalChallenge

Atlantic Canadians continuously inspire us with their dedication to their communities and local businesses. For 4 years now credit unions have supported local businesses through the #Loyal2LocalChallenge. By giving all 1500+ employees a yearly $25 to spend at their favourite local businesses, we were able to inject more than $338,000 into the local economy.

The Atlantic Credit Union system supported the #Loyal2LocalChallenge once again in 2023 injecting over $98,000 into the economy to help build our communities together.

We will be calling on Atlantic Canada's support again in 2024. In the meantime here is a little bit more about the program:

Each credit union employee across Atlantic Canada receives $25 to spend at a favourite local shop in support of the businesses that keep our communities strong. Employees are being asked to post about their experience on social media with the name of the business, tag Atlantic Credit Unions (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), and share using the hashtag #Loyal2LocalChallenge.

Showing support does not always come from purchasing goods and services and spending money. Here is a list of other ways you can participate in the #Loyal2LocalChallenge without breaking the bank:

  • Share about your go-to community café on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter or TikTok and tag them!
  • Write a heartfelt review about how amazing your service is or how tasty your treat was. Local businesses love a five-star review.
  • Tell your friends about the incredible local shop you visited and encourage them to stop by soon.

There are so many ways to support your local businesses and help build up the Atlantic communities. Let’s make a meaningful difference for the businesses that make our communities great places to live, work, and play and let’s do it together.

We would like to thank our friends at Libro Credit Union, London, Ontario for launching this initiative in 2020 and encouraging Atlantic Credit Unions to join. We're excited to be part of this movement again to support our local businesses.
