Harbourview Training Center, a beacon of hope and opportunity for individuals with intellectual disabilities on Prince Edward Island. 

The origins of Harbourview Training Center trace back to a time when it became clear that individuals with intellectual disabilities needed more than just daily care—they needed meaningful activities and opportunities to thrive. In the early 1970s, the first steps were modest, as the years went by, the center’s scope expanded. By 1975, it had grown to accommodate six full-time clients.

By the early 1990s, Harbourview’s clientele had grown to over 20, and by the end of the decade, community employment placements became a key goal, reflecting the broader movement toward inclusion. Throughout its journey, Harbourview Training Center has faced and overcome numerous challenges. However, the center’s dedication to innovation and adaptability has shone through. 

Their local credit union has been a steadfast partner in this journey, providing financial support and guidance for over 35 years. Their assistance has been crucial in navigating financial challenges, and their commitment extends beyond traditional banking services. 

Harbourview’s core values center around inclusion, opportunity, and community participation. These principles guide every aspect of their operations, from the programs they offer to their interactions with local businesses and residents.
